A Good Trip to the Bod Pod?

Is that even possible? I've been to the Bod Pod (the machine at BYU that does body fat testing. It is supposed to be the next most accurate machine to underwater weighing) three times before. This is my fourth. I figure if I want to do the competition in May I should know what my body fat is now to see if I want to lose any before I need to start prepping (training/dieting) in February. The other times I have gone I was 24%, then 23% then 24%. I was thinking I was probobly 23% but hoping for 22%.

I was very suprised when my print out read 18%. So surprised in fact that I haven't even really been that excited about it. I just can't wrap my head around it. Here were the numbers it told me:

Weight: 136.5
Percent fat: 18.2%
Percent Lean body mass: 81.8%
Pounds of fat: 24.8 lbs
Pounds of lbm: 111.7

I just can't imagine that I'm that much lower than I used to be. Part of me wonders if it's wrong and the other part hopes it's right. I guess I can run faster than ever before (for me personally), do more pull ups than ever (I cranked out 5 at the gym last week!), weigh a few pounds less than before (only 3 though...) and my jeans that used to fit "Date Night" snug are very comfortable. So... I guess it's possible. But I'm still not sure I believe it...

Traithlon Training Plan

I should probobly update you all with my triathlon training plan. It is just a little baby triathlong, so nothing to be scared of. I do have some goal paces I would like to hit though.

Run: 3.1 miles - Goal: 9 min/mile pace or 28 minutes
Bike: 10 miles - Goal: 17 mph or 36 minutes
Swim: 350 meters - Goal: 7 minutes

There is a huge, ginormous hill in the bike and I'm not that great of a biker so I don't know if that time is a huge stretch or what... Really anything over 15 mph I'd be happy b/c I've been averaging about 14.5mph. I know. Slow, huh? Even with my pretty new road bike. Oh, well. I'll get better in time.

For my plan, I am incorporating a day of speed work in for each of running and biking. The for the "distance" days I am working up to the entire distance at my goal pace. I don't know if that's the best or most scientific idea, but, hey, it made sense to me.

Progress:

Run: Week 1 - 3.12 miles (.5 mile at a 9min pace) 32:32 minutes Ave: 10:26 pace
Week 2 - 3.1 miles (1 mile at a 9 min pace) 31:06 minutes Ave: 10:06 pace

Bike: Week 1 - 10.03 miles (1.66 miles at a 17mph pace) 41:55 min Ave: 14.4 mph
Week 2 - 15 miles (3.3 miles at 16.4 mph pace) 1:18 hours total (I rode to my parents house. Yes, from west springville UP to northeast orem - my pace was like 11 mph and it was uphill the ENTIRE time including some crazy steep hills. I was going 3mph in the easiest gear up one of the hills (skyline dr for those of you who know- but I was not about to walk!)

Swim: Week 1 - 7:51

So that's what's going on with the tri training. I also started my third boot camp today! It was fun. We did assessments today. There were 17 people there! It's going to be really good I think. It's really growing and I don't know as many of the people and I like that. That means I'm getting refferrals!

One more quick thing for today: I ran sprints on the treadmill at the gym today. I haven't run on a treadmill in probobly 6 months. I used to do a 30 sec sprint at 10.5 mph. And that was tough. So today I started at 10. Increased it to 10.5 then 11 then 11.5 and finally 12mph! I honestly think there was something wrong with the treadmill though. I was running next to a friend and she said she had used that treadmill recently and didn't notice so maybe it's not off by too much? I mean 12 was really hard, don't get me wrong. My friend thought that since i've been running outside I'm just in better shape than I used to be. Hopefully that's the truth!

(But i still think the treadmill was off... ) :-)

Follow Me!

Hi everyone! I decided to create this blog to have a place to write about my fitness goals, nutrition, and workouts. This will be way more personal than I get on my Fit Eats blog and more fitness/Lindsey oriented than my family blog is. I don't like to stay stagnant when it comes to my workouts and fitness. I've always got some sort of goal I'm working towards. This will be a place where I can chronicle my progress.

Let me give you a quick run down of some of the ideas that are in my head that I might try to accomplish over the next year:

Nov 7th: Sprint Triathlon (training is in the works; I'll go over it in a later post)

Mid April: Possibly compete in the NPC Bikini division competition in Salt Lake

May: Little Red 40 mile Bike race

August: ULCER Century Bike Race (100 miles! Eek!)

Fall: Get pregnant?

Wow. I said all of those things. Saying/typing those goals is kind of a big deal to me. Let me get it out there that I am not committing to them right now. BUT, they are all things that I am not sure that I can do (except for the triathlon; i've got a few of those under my belt already). So, how cool would it be if I DID IT ALL!!! Seriously. Talk about best year ever, right? How good would it feel to just do my research, learn what it takes to get the job done, and DO IT?

I invite you all to follow along with my and my journey. I'm excited for these goals and after this next year I'm sure there will be a bunch more adventures! I will probobly only be posting 1-2x/week so add me to your google reader to be notified when I post. Leave me a comment so that I know who's going to be checking up on me!
